National Healthy Start Association's KEY COMMITTEES
Executive Committee
The primary responsibility of the Executive Committee is to ensure the effective operations of the Association. The committee oversees strategic planning, board development, leadership of all board committees and workgroups, and provides the necessary support to accomplish goals. The Executive Committee is comprised of the elected officers, the immediate past president and chairs of key committees.
Development Committee
The responsibility of the Development Committee is to develop and guide, in cooperation with other committees as appropriate, all efforts to raise funds to enable the Association to implement all elements of the Strategic Plan, especially funds to build the infrastructure of the Association.
Sustainability Committee
The committee is responsible for conducting education and advocacy efforts to strengthen the financial resources of the Healthy Start program. This committee has the primary responsibility for sustaining and increasing federal funding for the Healthy Start program.
Board Development (Nominating) Committee
The responsibility of the Nominating Committee is to assist the Board in identifying individuals who meet the qualifications to become a board member and officers of the organization.
Finance Committee
The responsibility of the Finance Committee is to oversee the Association’s financial health. Primary responsibilities include preparation of the annual budget and review of quarterly financial reports and financial policies and assuring compliance with accounting regulations.
Membership Services Committee
To set standards for membership affiliation, review annually the fee structure and related services to the embers and assure an annual membership drive is conducted.

Other Committees:
Spring Conference Planning and 10th Anniversary Celebration Committee
To plan theme for the conference and, in 2008, the NHSA's 10th anniversary celebration, assure topics are relevant and speakers are identified.
Leadership Institute Planning
To plan and execute the Institute consistent with the federal grant and based on evaluations of needs from local Healthy Start projects.
By-Laws Committee
Performs periodic review of the by-laws and seeks input for suggested amendments from the membership. Make recommendations for changes for Board consideration.
Marketing Committee
To promote the brand and advise on marketing and communication strategies that enhances the image of the organization.
Audit Committee
To secure an independent CPA firm on an annual basis, review audit and present to the full board of directors
Strategic Committee
Make recommendations for strategic vision, direction and goals for the organization

Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Infant Mortality (SACIM)
The Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has an advisory committee on Infant Mortality. While this is an appointed committee by the Secretary, visitors are welcome to attend and share public comments.
